Fr. Mark J. George,
S.J., is pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church. He has been
a Jesuit for 20 years, and a priest for 10. Previously, he was an
associate at Gesu-Toledo, at Our Lady of LaSalette-Berkley MI, and most
recently at Gesu-Cleveland until October 2008.
Fr. George is an
artist, specializing in oil painting. He is
interested in social justice issues, whether global or local, and this
was something that first attracted him to the Society of Jesus.
He is a bi-ritual priest and does some masses in the Maronite
(Lebanese) Rite. Fr. George is also a very knowledgeable baseball
fan, or perhaps a sports fan in general. "It is nice to have two
stadiums almost in my backyard.," Fr. George says. "Letʼs hope that
those two teams start imitating the success of the two winter sports!"
Fr. George is
assisted by the parish office manager, Lydia Maola and the Director of
the Warming Center, Fr. Ben Jimenez, S.J.
